More than 13 inches of rain fell in just less than a few hours which lead to heavy flooding that inundated thousands of the homes, shut down several major highways and left at least 8 people dead.
Heavy rains in the Southeast Texas, especially in Houston Metro area, have caused extensive flooding and forcing evacuations. This unexpected flood cost at least 8 lives according to various news reports. Late Monday, April 17, Governor Abbott declared a state of disaster in the following Texas Counties: Austin, Bastrop, Fort Bend, Colorado, Grimes, Harris, Montgomery, Waller and Wharton Counties.
